Tomen Corporation (Japan) founded the Superfine Madeiras SA, when the first Japanese companies entered in the timber industry in Brazil in the early 70. Afterwards, the name was changed to Santana Madeiras Ltda (Santana Timber Ltd). Tomen Corporation sold the company in September 2000 and under new management, the company name was changed to Ecomapua Conservação Ltda (Ecomapuá Conservation Ltd). Since November 2000 Ecomapuá is implemented in its area of 98,362 hectares, Carbon Sequestration Projects involving Reforestation, Avoid Deforestation, Renewable Energy and Oil Plants, Integrated Projects for Sustainable Development and Biodiversity Services in the region.
